Want More?
If you want more, you can try some of the following lifestyle adjustments to help your depression
Food
Eat whole foods, and choose organic fruits and veggies when you eat the skin (think carrots, apples, cucumbers, etc.).
Movement
Try to move every day for at least 10 minutes: Run, stretch, dance, bounce on a trampoline, walk, yoga, or any form of movement that makes your soul sing.
Sunshine/Fresh Air
Early morning sunshine before 10 AM is best for your circadian rhythm, but any time of day you can get outside is awesome!
Switching out Products
Once you run out of these products, try switching out for non-toxic ones:
Cleaning
Makeup
Shampoo/Conditioner
Soap
Candles
Laundry detergent/Dryer sheets
No Booze
I hate to be the fun police, but alcohol does nothing for you and makes depression worse.
Outside influences
Choose relationships that are with people who want to understand and listen to you (if you haven’t already read my book, I talk about this in detail!). Check to see if you are living in a house/apartment with mold. Filter the water and air in your home.
Sleep tips
Drink chamomile tea before bed
Use a castor-oil liver pack (Queen of Thrones is what I use)
Put your phone in another room so that you don’t scroll until 3 AM (and it’s not the first thing you look at in the morning)
Take magnesium before bed
Create a wind down routine that you do every night to teach your body to recognize when to shut down
Balance your blood sugar (especially important if you routinely wake up around the same time every night)
Ice Bath
Incorporate an ice bath or cold plunge or cold showers in the morning to wake up your body (sometimes it’s the only thing that helps me).
Drainage Pathways
There are numerous ways to help move lymph and help drain pathways:
Ice Bath
Rebounding
Dry brushing
Gua Sha
Lymphatic massage
Acupuncture
Castor oil packs
Sauna
Eating/drinking certain foods
Epsom salt baths
Red-Light Therapy
Red-light therapy (RLT) has numerous health benefits. One benefit is increased complexion, skin feeling, and collagen density. (Check out this study for more). RLT also helps to promote better mood and sleep. (See here for more).
